Ministries at LWC
There is always room at Light of the World Church for you to get involved. When you volunteer your time and talents to the work of God in the church, the body grows and builds itself up (Ephesians 4:16). If you regard LWC as your home church, we encourage you to prayerfully consider one of the areas of service listed below.
If you are interested in joining one of the ministries, please download the appropriate ministry application below, fill out, sign, and deposit it in the application box on the lobby wall. All ministries besides Music and Children/Youth use the General Ministry Application.

Children/Youth Ministry Application
Altar Call Ministry
The Altar Call Ministry assists new believers in understanding their decision to accept Christ as their personal savior.
Book Center
The Book Center Team manages the sales of bibles, books, and music CD’s.
Caleb Ministry
Caleb is a specialized ministry for men and women 55 years and older. The group meets once a month for a meal, prayer, and fellowship. Sometimes, special speakers are invited to address relevant topics in the meetings. Group activities also include outings.
The Caleb Ministry's aim is to follow the model given by Caleb in the Bible, who was still as strong at 85 years old as when Moses first sent him into battle. He served the Lord wholeheartedly all his life and was ready for battle even in old age (Joshua 14:10-12). This example given by Caleb is an inspiration for those in their golden years to serve the Lord as passionately as ever before.
Care Connection
Our Care Connection Ministry serves a vital role by keeping contact with church members, staying updated with those that are ill or recovering, first time visitors, and new believers.
Children's Ministry
From nursery to junior high, children are taught the importance of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through worship, prayer, and activities.
Communion Services
The Communion Ministry helps prepare and distribute the communion elements during service once a month and for special services.
Crossroads Youth Ministry / Salt & Light Young Adult Ministry
Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has commissioned us to make disciples of the youth and young adults in our community and throughout the Poconos. Our goal is to teach the whole Bible, study biblical principles, and apply them to their present life challenges as Junior High, High School, and College students.
We believe the Word of God will transform the lives of our youth and young adults and show their generation the path of reconciliation, salvation, and a standard of holiness in Jesus Christ.
The Crossroads Youth Group and Salt & Light Young Adult Group both meet on Fridays at 7:00 PM. Crossroads is ages 11-15 and Salt & Light is ages 16-23.
Food Services
Our fellowship time is important to the Light of the World Church Community. The Food Services Team prepares food and cleans up for fellowship time between Sunday services. They also serve at various special events, such as volunteer dinners, Men's and Women's Breakfasts, and our annual Church Picnic.
Greeting
The Greeting Ministry greets the church family and guides visitors into the church.
His Hands
His Hands prepares meals for the sick and families experiencing a temporary need for meals.
Housekeeping
Housekeeping volunteers serve behind the scenes by cleaning the church, youth rooms, and offices.
Media Center
The Media Center Team manages the duplication and sales of audio messages on CD.
Medical Team
The Medical Team is made up of medically trained volunteers who are certified in First Aid, CPR, and medical care. The team is available at church services and special events to assist in case of a medical emergency.
Men's Ministry
The Men's Fellowship provides opportunity for the men to come together for fellowship, Bible studies, and prayer. We have a men's breakfast meeting every month and men's all night prayer meetings the first Friday of every month, as well an an annual men's weekend retreat.
Missions
Our Home Missions focuses on outreach and social involvements in the United States outside the Poconos area. Foreign Missions cater to long and short term missions in countries outside the United States. This includes supporting long term missionaries to various countries and organizing short term mission trips.
Music Ministry
Our Music Ministry has a mission to seek God's face in prayer, encourage personal relationship with God among its members and lead the church in praise and worship through songs. Various talents and gifts are utilized in this ministry ranging from voice and instrumentalists to soundboard operators.
Prayer Team
The prayer team is made up of men and women who meet to pray for church services and the needs of our members on Saturday mornings. In addition, the church holds Intercessory Prayer on Wednesday evenings.
Security
Our Security team creates a safe environment in and outside of the church facilities.
Single Minded Ministry
Our Single Minded Ministry seeks to encourage and challenge single adults to become true disciples of Christ. Age 19+
Sound & Video Ministry
Connected with the Music Ministry, Sound & Video encompasses audio and video production. The ministry uses these various skills and technologies to augment the spreading of the gospel.
Transportation
Our Transportation Ministry transports people to and from the church for services using the church bus or vans.
True Vine Outreach
True Vine Outreach is a ministry that reaches out to children, often from tough neighborhoods, with the love of Christ. The Gospel is presented using music, crafts, puppets, and the Word of God to show them their need for salvation.
Ushers Ministry
The Usher Ministry facilitates service by seating people, giving out first time visitor information packets and tithe envelopes, and assists in the offering collection.
Visiting & Follow Up Team
This dedicated team visits the sick and aged in their homes, nursing homes, and hospitals.
Welcome Center
Those involved in our Welcome Center Ministry welcome first time visitors after the service to give them a gift, refreshments, and answer any questions about the church or the surrounding area.
Women's Ministry
The women’s ministry serves to encourage and disciple women by prayer, Bible study, and fellowship. There is a yearly women’s retreat, a monthly Friday night prayer meeting, and special events throughout the year.
Words of Worship
Our Words of Worship Team helps lead worship by providing on-screen song lyrics for the congregation to participate.
